A Teacher Sentenced to 7 years Jail For Sexually Abusing Minor Girls

A teacher gets seven-year jail term for sexually abusing four minor girls in Vijayawada.

The Vijayawada ACB Court, special bench which deals with the cases registered under the POCSO – Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act pronounced judgment on Monday.

This incident happened in September 2015. The convict is Poranki Yati Rama Varma, 51 years, who belongs to Srinagar Colony, Vuyyuru, was working as a headmaster in a primary school at Mudirajupalem in Pamidimukkala mandal.

Poranki Yati Rama Varma used to lure the children by offering them chocolates and pencils and then taking them to his room.
He use to commit the heinous act, and used to threaten the students not to tell anyone.

Suddenly one day the incident came to light when another student saw headmaster misbehaving with girl students and informed their parents on September 8, 2015.

By the complaint received from the parents, the police booked a case and arrested Mr. Pranki Yati Ram Varma. He was in jail since then and the court rejected his repeated bail pleas.

On Monday 29 august 2016, after hearing the entire matter, the ACB court convicted Mr. Poranki Yati Ram Varma and sentenced him to 7-year rigorous punishment, apart from imposing a penalty of 9 lakhs.

The court said that the penalty amount should be paid by September 30, 2016. And it also ordered the concerned department to see the penal amount be given to the four victims, Rs 1.75 lakh each for their studies.
