For the second consecutive year, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will be releasing YSR Kapu Nestham money on Thursday, which aims to extend financial support to enhance the living standards of women in the Kapu community.
Under this scheme, the state government will be providing financial assistance of Rs 75,000 in five years at the rate of Rs 15,000 per annum to eligible women aged between 45 to 60 years, belonging to the Kapu, Balija, Ontari and Telaga communities. The amount will be credited in the unencumbered accounts of the women.
According to the YSR Congress Party manifesto, the YSRCP is implementing the Kapu Nestham scheme for the second consecutive year despite the Covid crisis intending to improve the economic development and living standards of poor women of Kapu, Balija, and Telaga castes.
Last year, 3,27,349 beneficiaries received Rs.491.02 crore. Today, the govt will deposit Rs.3,27,244 crore into the bank accounts of the beneficiaries. The state govt says that with this, a total of Rs.981.88 crore deposited in beneficiaries bank accounts.
The previous government had spent only Rs 400 crore per annum on an average for the development of women belonging to Kapu, Balija, Ontari and Telaga communities. The YSRC government has extended benefits to 59,63,308 women of Kapu community by spending Rs 12,126.78 crore, which is 15 times more than the assistance provided by the previous government, the release read.
There were many beneficiaries who were left out in the first phase of the scheme. Now the Government of Andhra Pradesh has given a second chance to those women. The Government of Andhra Pradesh has provided one month to apply to those beneficiaries who were left out in the first phase. Recently Rs 143 crores are credited into the bank account of those women (95,245 beneficiaries). Under this scheme, the government is providing financial assistance of Rs 15000 for 5 years for the welfare of women from kapu, balija ontari, and Telga communities. A total of 3,30,605 women is benefited from the YSR kapu nestham scheme.
