AP Govt Whip booked for assault on cops
Andhra Pradesh Government Whip Chintamaneni Prabhakar from Denduluru in West Godavari district is at it again a few days after he buried the hatchet with Musunuru Tahasildar D Vanajakshi. Accused of assaulting a police party on duty at Gundugolanu on Sunday night, Prabhakar was implicated in a case registered in Denduluru police station. The case was registered following a complaint by J Papa Rao, Assistant Sub-Inspector. According to the police, the TDP MLA was charged with abusing and manhandling Papa Rao and two other constables while regulating the traffic on the Kolkata-Chennai national highway at Gundugolanu in connection with a jathara being held at Devarapalli.
When the police tried to stop his vehicle going in a wrong direction, tiff ensued with the police. The police were restricting traffic on the Gundugolanu-Kovvuru road in view of jaathara at Devarapalli by diverting vehicles on the Tadepalligudem road. Prabhakar reportedly tried to pass on the Kovvuru road without paying heed to the requests of the police.
Denduluru SI said a case was booked against the whip under Sections 323, 353, and 506 of IPC. It may be recalled that the TDP senior leader was embroiled in a controversy after allegedly assaulting Vanajakshi while the latter was acting tough against illegal sand mining in the Tammileru river. Earlier, a case under the SC and ST Atrocities (prevention) Act was booked against Prabhakar for allegedly attacking a Sub Inspector of Scheduled Castes attached to Pedavegi under his constituency.
Kaikaluru police registered another case for allegedly assaulting the personnel of the Forest department in connection with formation of road in the Kolleru sanctuary area in violation of the Wildlife Protection Act.
