South Indian Superstar Rajinikanth will be honoured with the 2019 Dadasaheb Phalke award, the government announced today. Rajinikanth will receive the award on May 3.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi responded in twitter that “it is a matter of immense joy that Thalaiva has been conferred with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award”. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister E Palaniswami spoke to Rajinikanth on phone and congratulated him.
Shivaji Rao Gaekwad is the original name of Rajinikanth. He acted mainly in tamil movies. In addition to acting, he has also worked as a producer and screenwriter. He has won many award including, four Tamil Nadu State Film Best Actor Awards and a Filmfare Best Tamil Actor Award.
Apart from Dadasaheb Phalke Award he has received most prestigious awards like Padma Bhushan in 2000 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2016. Rajanikanth started his career with Apoorva Raagangal on 1975 which was directed by the great director K Balachander.
After Central Government announced Dadasaheb Phalke Award to Rajinikanth he thanked the Indian government and the honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi for conferring him Indian cinema’s highest honour, Dada Saheb Phalke Award. He dedicate this award to his friend and bus driver Raj Bahadur, who discovered his acting talent and encouraged him. He also thanked Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswamy, Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, the opposition party leader MK Stalin, his friend Kamal Haasan.
