Faction violence claimed lives of two Opposition TDP leaders in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh Thursday morning. According to information reaching here, the slain TDP leaders, who are brothers, are from Pesaravai village in Gadivemula mandal in Panyam Assembly Constituency. The elder brother, V Nageswara Reddy earlier worked as sarpanch of Pesaravai village while the younger one, V Pratap Reddy was the former director of Kurnool DCCB bank.
According to police, the incident took place at around 6 am when the two brothers, along with some other relatives, were heading towards cremation grounds to collect the ashes of their cousin, Vaddu Mohan Reddy, who passed away on Monday due to a heart attack.
The brothers were known TDP workers and followers of party Nandyal Parliament constituency president Gouru Venkata Reddy. Five to six members of the rival group knew about the brothers’ plan to go to the graveyard by walk to perform the ‘Third Day’ rituals of Pratap Reddy’s brother V. Mohan Reddy, who had died recently.
Gadivemula Sub Inspector Sridhar told that two TDP leaders, Pratap Reddy and Nageswar Reddy were hit by a vehicle this morning and died on the spot. Gadivemula Police rushed to the village immediately after knowing the matter.
The family members, villages and others in large numbers rushed to the spot. The police on learning about the incident flew to the scene of offence and took stock of the situations. A tense situation is prevailing in Pesaravai village. The police as a means of precautionary measures have deployed huge number of police personnel to avert any untoward incident takes place in the village. The bodies have been shifted to Nandyal Government general hospital for conducting an autopsy.
