Chicken Prices Increased Upto Rs 280 in Andhra Pradesh
Chicken prices had seen a sudden hike across Andhra Pradesh after remaining low for 2 months. It was Rs 150 per kg in the months of may and June, now it increased by more than Rs 100. The Rise in price increased due to the increase in feed price. On, Sunday 18 July, 2021,skinless variety of chicken sold for Rs 260 – 280 in several chicken shops across Andhra Pradesh.
Due to continuous lockdown and disturbance in the supply chain, more than 50% of the poultry farmers, especially Farmers those who run small farms had temporarily closed their farms.This forced many farmers to close businesses. As the same situation Occured in neighboring States like Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and kerala, there was a real shortage of supply.
“The Feed Cost Has doubled and became huge load on them , Says Poultry Farmers. and also they said “The cost of maize which is used to feed hens had reached Rs 22 to 23 per Kg After Covid-19 second wave, Earlier the cost of maize would be Rs 18 per Kg. The placement of birds has reduced 20% by poultry farmers due to a hike in production cost, leading to increased demand for chicken. says Chakradhar Rao , President of the Indian Poultry Equipment Manufacturers Association.
