Former MP Sabbam Hari died while undergoing treatment for coronavirus at Apollo Hospitals in Visakhapatnam on Monday afternoon. He is survived by son and two daughters.

He succumbed to Covid-19 as he was suffering with other ailments. Hari hails from Chittivalasa near Tagarapuvalasa in Visakhapatnam district. He served as mayor for the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) prior to becoming the MP in 2009.

He strongly opposed bifurcation of united Andhra Pradesh being Congress MP. Opposition leader and TDP national president N Chandrababu Naidu and other TDP leaders have condoled the death of Sabbam Hari.

Sabbam Hari was born on 1st June 1952 in Tagarapuvalasa. Hari started his career in politics in the Congress party. He worked as Visakha yuvajana congress leader in 1985 and was elected as the Visakhapatnam Mayor in 1995. He contested for Parliament in 2009 on a Congress ticket and tasted victory from the Anakapally constituency. Later, he joined TDP in 2019 and contested for Assembly from the Bheemili constituency.
